The theme for World Water Day 2019 is “Leaving no one behind.” So, we’re sharing a collection of Shutterstock images that celebrate that ethos. We scoured our contributor community on Shutterstock to find images for World Water Day that celebrate that central promise, and the importance of the protection and accessibility of fresh water around the world.

When searching for images for World Water Day, we asked ourselves the question: What does “leaving no one behind” in images look like? When you think of images for World Water Day, you generally will think of images of lakes, rivers, and oceans. But what about the people?

The problem in our environment, is that today billions of people are still living without  safe water in households, schools, workplaces, farms, and factories. In 2010, the UN recognized “the right to safe and clean drinking water and sanitation as a human right that is essential for the full enjoyment of life and all human rights.”

Here are a few quick facts from the United Nations powered World Water Day campaign.
