Prince Harry arrived in Copenhagen today as he kicked off his first official visit to Denmark.

The royal, 33, will spend two days in the Danish capital on the visit, which is being made at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

It follows visits by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to France, Germany and Poland earlier this year, which were seen as a way to drum up some good feeling towards the UK amid the all-important Brexit negotiations.

Harry’s first engagement today was an audience with Denmark’s Queen Margrethe, 77, at the Palace of Amalienborg.

While in Denmark Harry is due to spend time with young people and meet veterans including the Danish Invictus Games team.

He started the trip on Wednesday by visiting the Palace of Amalienborg for an audience with Queen Margrethe of Denmark, who he is related to through his grandfather the Duke of Edinburgh.

On Wednesday evening Harry will attend a reception at the Tivoli Gardens, one of the world’s oldest amusement parks.

On Thursday Harry is due to meet volunteers and service users from a national campaign to improve attitudes to mental health.

The trip to Denmark is the latest in a series of European trips made by the royal family this year, following last year’s Brexit vote.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited France in March, Kate made a solo trip to Luxembourg in May, and in July the couple toured Germany and Poland.

The Prince of Wales toured Romania in the spring and, with the Duchess of Cornwall, visited Italy and Austria.
