Yevgeny Evstigneev

Yevgeny’s childhood was spent on the outskirts, which was called the settlement of Volodarsky. His father was twenty years older than his mother. Both of them were workers: Alexander Mikhailovich – metalworker, Maria Ivanovna – milling machine operator. For his mother – Maria Ivanovna – he was a late child: when he was born, she was 32 years old.

Eugene early, six years, was left without a father, my mother got married a second time, but my stepfather died when the boy was seventeen. Before the war, Zhenya managed to finish the seven-year plan and in 1941 he went to work as an electrician. Then he studied for a year in a diesel engineering college, but after his stepfather’s death he had to go to earn money.

In 1943-1947 he worked as a mechanic at the factory “Red Etna” in Gorky.
In 1951 he graduated from the Gorky Theater School and until 1954 he was an actor at the Vladimir Regional Drama Theater.
In 1956 he graduated from the School-Studio named after V.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko at the Moscow Art Theater and became an actor of this theater.
In 1957-1970 – the artist of the theater “Contemporary”.
Since 1970 – artist of the Moscow Art Theater.

He was born on October 9, 1926 in Nizhny Novgorod.

He started filming in cinema in 1957 (the first film “Duel”), mostly in small roles. Later on the actor’s account was already about two dozen major roles. In total, he appeared in more than 100 films in films and on television.

The actor was married three times.
The first wife – an actress, and then the artistic director of the theater “Contemporary” Galina B. Volchek. October 29, 1961 they had a son, Denis, who in the future became a famous film director and cameraman.
The second wife is the actress Lilia Zhurkina (1937-1986). In this marriage on May 13, 1968, the daughter of Masha was born, who later became, like her parents, an actress of theater and cinema.
The third spouse is a young actress and his pupil Irina Tsyvina (married in 1989).

March 1, 1992 – the actor last came on the stage of the theater as a card-shuffler Glova in the play “Players XXI” (staged by Sergei Jurassic).
March 2, 1992 – the actor, along with his wife, Irina flew to England, where he was supposed to have an operation on his heart.

Yevgeny Evstigneev died on March 4, 1992, at the age of 66 in a clinic in London on the eve of the operation.
The actor in Moscow was buried at the Novodevichye Cemetery, plot No. 10, row No. 6, place No. 18. The

Nizhny Novgorod Theater School bears the name of E.A. Evstigneeva.
In the Vladimir region, a theatrical prize named after E.A. Evstigneeva.
In Nizhny Novgorod, near the Nizhny Novgorod Academic Drama Theater, a sculpture by E.A. Evstigneeva.
On October 9, 2014, a memorial plaque was erected on Bakunin Street in the Kanavino district of Nizhny Novgorod, where the actor lived for the first 8 years of his life.
