The wireless charging case will also be sold separately for $79.
Apple AirPods now last longer, connect with Siri, and can be purchased with an upgraded wireless charging case.
The latest iteration of the hugely popular wireless headphones boasts a newly designed «H1 chip» that offers a number of significant improvements over first-gen AirPods.
Most notably, the ear buds’ battery life is extended by up to 50 percent and delivers crisper audio. The chip also allows users to switch syncs between devices like an iPhone, Apple Watch or iPad twice as fast.
For an extra $40, you can upgrade to a wireless charging case that carries over 24 hours of extra listening time.
It looks almost identical to the previous case—aside from a front-facing LED light that indicates battery status—but can be juiced back up with any Qi-compatible wireless chargers.
Additionally, the next-gen AirPods now listen for the «Hey Siri» prompt, meaning you can use Apple’s voice assistant to adjust volume, change songs, make a phone call or get directions.
The new AirPods are priced at $199 with the wireless charging case and $159 with the standard case. Existing AirPod owners can also buy the upgraded case separately for $79.
All three are currently available to order on Apple’s website.
