Harley-Davidson is taking pre-orders on their long-awaited and hotly-anticipated electric motorcycle, with the first deliveries slated for August.

The hallowed bike brand announced at CES that the 2020 Harley-Davidson LiveWire will sell for a hefty $29,799. That’s almost twice the price of the Zero SR electric bike we tested last year.

Worth it? Perhaps. The LiveWire hits 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and, like all EVs, puts all of its torque to the pavement instantaneously. An «H-D Revelation» powertrain sits low on the body, giving the LiveWire a lower center of gravity than other motorcycles.

There isn’t a clutch or gear shifters, which is great if you don’t know how to operate a manual transmission but not so much if you’re looking for a traditional riding experience.

The LiveWire has an estimated urban range of 110 miles, which is on-par with that of the the aforementioned Zero SR. Charge times vary based on which type of station you use.

Jalopnik has further details:

Harley says that the LiveWire can be charged at “any compatible charging station” and times are as follows:

Level 1 (standard household outlet): 13 miles range per hour of charge.

Level 2: LiveWire can be connected to a Level 2 charge unit but will be charged at the Level 1 rate.

Level 3 (DC Fast Charge): 192 miles range per hour charged.

A nifty telematics system called H-D Connect that feeds data regarding the bike’s status to the owner’s phone also comes stock, making the LiveWire «the first North American mass-market cellular-connected electric motorcycle.»

Finally, Harley-Davidson has added a «signature sound» to an otherwise noise-less powertrain that’s designed to represent «the smooth, electric power of the LiveWire motorcycle.» This is what they came up with:
