Sabrina The Teenage Witch reboot will bring back Harvey

Much remains to be found out about the upcoming Sabrina The Teenage Witch reboot, but one much-loved original character is apparently set to return to the screens.

Writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the creator behind The CW’s hit series Riverdale, took to Instagram last week to share a first look at the script of the new show. Aguirre-Sacasa is also the author of the Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, on which the reboot is based.

His picture was taken from afar, but some eagle-eyed fans managed to zoom in and decipher what seems to be a revealing exchange between Sabrina and Harvey, the love interest who made history at her side in the 1990s version of the teenage witch’s adventures.

Harvey Kinkle, played by Nate Richter in the cult sitcom, dates Sabrina, Melissa Joan Hart’s title character, during the first four season of the original show, which aired from 1996 to 2003.

For a long time, he remains an unassuming boyfriend, unaware of Sabrina’s magical powers even though she casts multiple spells on him.

That all changes at the end of season four when, after one spell too many, Harvey realizes Sabrina is a witch and breaks up with her.

His character, however, returns in the series finale as Sabrina is about to marry another man and is revealed to be her true soul mate, just in time for one final reunion.

It appears that Harvey will get details about Sabrina’s life much earlier this time around.

The snip shared by Aguirre-Sacasa appears to show Sabrina having an intimate conversation with Harvey, showing him her real birth place and letting him know that there is more to her story than meets the eye.

‘I… wanted you to see where I was born, Harvey,’ Sabrina seems to say in the script snap.

‘Not in Greendale General, like it says on my birth certificate. Here. In this grove of trees. Almost 16 years ago.

‘And, uhm, where I’ll be reborn this Saturday night. On my birthday. At the stroke of midnight. In the middle of a penumbral lunar eclipse. The kind that only happens once every 66 years. That’s why I can’t go to Rosalind’s Halloween party this weekend.’

News of the upcoming reboot broke last month, when Variety revealed that The CW and Warner Bros are working on an hour-long, weekly drama that will act as a spin-off to Riverdale. Both Riverdale and Sabrina belong to the Archie Comics universe.

The new show is expected to launch in the 2018-2019 season, and to give a darker tone to Sabrina’s adventures.
