WIT Empowerment Day Scheduled for Fall Toy Preview

In collaboration with Walmart, WIT Empowerment Day will include product pitches, mentorship activities and networking opportunities for professionals in the areas of toys, games, licensing and entertainment.

The goal of the event is to help entrepreneurs, manufacturers, inventors and others take their businesses and products “to the next level.”

Women in Toys, Licensing & Entertainment (WIT) has announced that it will host its annual WIT Empowerment Day on Monday, October 2 at the Dallas Market Center, the day before Fall Toy Preview opens.

Women in Toys will host its annual WIT Empowerment Day on Monday, October 2 at the Dallas Market Center.

Members of WIT will be able to pitch their products directly to Walmart buyers and top toy companies, including Hasbro, Spin Master, PlayMonster and Jazwares, for licensing or feedback. (To be eligible to pitch Walmart, products must be currently sold online or in stores, and companies must be at least 51-percent woman-owned.)

“Ask an Expert” information sessions will also take place, allowing participants to get one-on-one mentoring from experts on e-commerce, crowdfunding, financing, patents and trademarks, packaging, design, marketing and PR and more. Additional details about Empowerment Day, including registration, can be found on the Women in Toys website.

Monday Stat: Gifting Kitchen Products

According to Gifts and Decorative Accessories’ 2017 Today’s Gift Retailer Survey, 77 percent of retailers who carry kitchen textiles, such as towels, aprons, table runners, place mats, etc., plan to expand their selection in the next year.

At a relatively low price point, kitchen textiles make a great hostess or housewarming gift, and retailers can cross merchandise with other kitchen products to encourage add-on sales.
