The US threatened Russia with sanctions for military-technical cooperation with Venezuela. In response, the Russian special exporter – Rosoboronexport – told what its specialists are doing in Venezuela.

So, on March 29, a national helicopter training center opened in Venezuela. The center was built under the contract of Rosoboronexport and CAVIM, Venezuela’s joint-stock company of the military industry. The Venezuelan personnel in the Russian Federation were trained in the rules of operation of Russian simulators, various equipment for training classes, simulator control points, etc.

The capabilities of the center allow Venezuelan pilots to undergo comprehensive training in the operation and use of Mi-17V-5, Mi-35M and Mi-26T helicopters in conditions as close as possible to reality. Simulators allow you to simulate various non-standard situations that may arise in flight. Training in such a center makes training pilots safer and more efficient and significantly saves the cost of training them in general.

Since 2005, Venezuela has been Russia’s largest Latin American partner in the field of military-technical cooperation. A significant amount of Russian armament and military equipment, including multifunctional Su-30MK2 fighters, Mi and military helicopters, tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, missile and artillery weapons, modern air defense systems, Kalashnikov automatic weapons of the 100th series .

Rosoboronexport and other Russian organizations participating in the Russian-Venezuelan military-technical cooperation will pay special attention to the training of specialists, as well as the timely maintenance of the equipment supplied.

Helicopter technology supplied from Russia to Venezuela not only participates in operations against smugglers, but also successfully copes with aerial reconnaissance of forest fires, rescue and evacuation activities in disaster-affected regions, as well as the delivery of humanitarian goods – food and essential goods – to remote areas of the country.
