Boys’ soccer Top 10: Wilson looks like the best team in D.C.; Severna Park No. 1

Severna Park failed to win for the first time this season in a tie with Anne Arundel County rival Broadneck on Thursday, but the Falcons hang on to the top spot. No. 2 Mount Hebron lost twice last week to drop to the bubble.

Wilson joins the rankings at No. 10 after an impressive start against a diverse schedule. So far, the Tigers have beaten Wootton, Gonzaga, St. John’s and Washington International.

South River has been on the bubble for a month now but could crack the top 10 with a win over Meade on Tuesday. Out of Howard County, Oakland Mills joins the bubble with a win over Mount Hebron and a tie with River Hill on its resume.

1. Severna Park (9-0-1) LR: 1

The Falcons surrendered a late equalizer to Broadneck’s Tyler Madairy in a 1-1 tie on Thursday.

2. Leonardtown (8-1) LR: 3

Senior Lucas Kokolios netted his second straight hat trick in a 5-0 win over Patuxent on Monday.

3. Whitman (7-1-1) LR: 4

With a 2-0 win over Walter Johnson on Wednesday and a 2-1 win over Churchill on Saturday, the Vikings beat their two biggest Montgomery County rivals in one week.

4. Meade (9-1) LR: 5

Five different Mustangs scored a goal in wins over Northeast and Southern.

5. River Hill (8-0-2) LR: 6

The Hawks beat Glenelg 3-2 on Tuesday before beating Centennial 3-1 on Thursday.

6. The Heights (12-1) LR: 7

The Cavaliers had six different goal scorers in both a 6-0 win over Carroll on Wednesday and a 6-0 win over Sandy Spring on Friday.

7. Landon (9-1-2) LR: 8

The Bears posted their seventh and eighth shutouts of the season in wins over St. Stephen’s St. Agnes and Episcopal.

8. Churchill (8-2) LR: 9

The Bulldogs beat Bethesda-Chevy Chase 2-1 on Thursday before falling behind 2-0 at halftime of a 2-1 loss to Whitman on Saturday.

9. Damascus (9-1) LR: 10

After a 3-2 win over Rockville on Tuesday, senior Justin Dixon scored twice in a 4-2 win over Seneca Valley.

10. Wilson (7-0-1) LR: NR

The Tigers have beaten competition from Montgomery County and the WCAC on top of an undefeated start in DCIAA play.
